01

How we protect your memories

Memoria is designed with privacy first. Memories, photos, collections, and tags you create are stored locally on your device by default. We do not operate an account server that centrally receives this content, and we do not sell your personal data for advertising profiles.

When you choose to enable certain features, your data may be processed by system services provided by Apple. The sections below explain the data involved, why it is used, and the choices available to you.

02

Data we process

Content you provide: memory titles, story text, dates, manually entered places, tags, covers and photos, collection names, and descriptions. This content is used to display, search, organize, share, and export your memories.

App settings: language, appearance, notification preferences, iCloud sync status, and recent sync state are mainly stored on your device to remember your choices.

Purchase and entitlement information: when you subscribe to Premium, Apple processes payment details. Memoria uses StoreKit to receive product information, transaction verification results, product identifiers, and current entitlement status so it can unlock features. We do not receive your full payment-card details.

System permission status: the app may check whether photo and notification permissions have been granted in order to provide features you request.

03

Photos, notifications, and system sharing

Memoria opens the system photo picker only when you choose a cover or add an image. It asks for permission to add content to your photo library only when you save a share image. Images you select become part of your memory content.

When you enable anniversary reminders, Memoria requests notification permission and schedules local notifications on your device that may include a memory title. You can disable notifications at any time in system settings.

When you use the system share sheet, the image or export file you select is sent to the app or contact you choose. Further processing is governed by the recipient's privacy practices.

04

iCloud sync

iCloud sync is off by default. When enabled, Memoria uses Apple's CloudKit and SwiftData capabilities to sync relevant memory content to the private iCloud database associated with your Apple ID, allowing it to sync and be restored across your devices.

Apple hosts this data under its terms and privacy policy. Availability depends on your Apple ID status, network connection, iCloud storage, and Apple system services. Turning sync off stops future cloud syncing, but does not automatically delete local content or historical data already stored in iCloud.

05

Purposes and legal bases

We process only the data needed to provide the recording, organization, reminder, sync, purchase restoration, sharing, and export features you request; maintain security and compatibility; and meet legal obligations.

Depending on applicable law, our legal bases may include performing our contract with you, your consent (for example, system permissions and optional iCloud sync), our legitimate interests in keeping the service secure, and legal obligations. You can manage the relevant processing by disabling features, withdrawing system permissions, or stopping use of the app.

06

Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell your personal information or use your memory content for third-party targeted advertising. Data may be processed or shared only in these limited circumstances:

  • Apple, to provide App Store purchases, StoreKit entitlement verification, iCloud and CloudKit, photos, notifications, and system sharing;
  • recipients you choose, when you share an image or export data; and
  • when required by law, a court order, or to protect the lawful interests of users or the public, and only to the extent necessary.
07

Retention and security

Local content remains until you delete it in the app, uninstall the app, or erase device data. Retention and deletion of iCloud content are also affected by your iCloud settings and Apple's service mechanisms. Apple retains purchase records under its policies, and your device may cache the entitlement status needed for subscriptions.

We use platform data-protection mechanisms and follow the principle of least privilege, but no storage method can promise absolute security. Use a device passcode, protect your Apple ID, and regularly export backups of important memories.

08

Your choices and rights

You can view, edit, and delete memories and collections in the app, turn off notifications and iCloud sync, and revoke photo or notification permissions in system settings. Eligible Premium features can export memory data and original images as a ZIP file.

Depending on the law where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict processing, receive portable data, withdraw consent, or lodge a complaint. Because most content exists only on your device or in your private iCloud, we may be unable to access or delete it for you; we will explain the device-side steps that are available.

09

Children's privacy

Memoria is intended for people who can legally consent to this policy. Minors should use it only with the guidance and consent of a parent or guardian and should avoid recording unnecessary sensitive personal information.

If you believe a child's information has been handled improperly, contact us. We will take appropriate action to the extent that we can identify and control the relevant data.

10

International processing

Apple's service infrastructure may be located outside your country or region. Apple handles any related cross-border processing under its service terms, privacy policy, and applicable data-protection mechanisms.

Because Memoria does not currently operate its own cloud server for centrally storing users' memory content, we do not independently upload local memories to our own servers in another country.

11

Policy updates and contact

We may update this policy when our features, legal obligations, or data practices change, and we will show the updated date on this page. We will communicate material changes through an in-app notice or another reasonable method.

If you have questions about this policy or our handling of personal information, or want to exercise a legal right, contact us through the contact details listed on Memoria's App Store product page. To protect your privacy, we may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
